So I was in a Car Accident last night...

So I was in a Car Accident last night..... I haven't blogged in forever and it’s really sad that this is the first new thing that I post in awhile. The gist of the story is that I was stopped at a red light on an off-ramp>my light turned green>I stepped on the gas>>>and the next thing I know I've been hit and forced up onto the median in the middle of the intersection. Needless to say I am not a happy person! Now I'M FINE!!!! My left ankle has some minor bruising/swelling but that’s about it. The idiots who ran the red light hit me mostly on my front left tire (thank god). But the tire rods (and some other stuff that I don't remember) was snapped and my car looks all crushed and snapped and *insert crying here* they broke my BABY That’s pretty much it for now... I'll keep you all up dated as stuff happens.

Apparently I've been busy...

music: The runway montage from Kinky Boots

I know I know thanksgiving was almost a week ago but I've been busy people so hears the recap...

The wed. before thanksgiving:
Liia got 4 FREE tickets to the Guns n Hoses event at the scott trade center. (Minor aside to those of you not from STL guns n hoses is a charity boxing match between firefighters and police to raise money for the families of those lost in the line of duty.) And not just any seats, noooo.... they were the Sara Lee box seats no less. So it was liia, me, jeff, and a friend of jeffs surrounded by firefighters and policemen and access to beer.... it was a fun night! We were cheering for the firefighters of course but unfortunately they lost by 2 matches . We'll get 'em next year though *shakes fist* Then we all went back to liia's house to watch..... some movie... till ~3am. Then I went shopping at Walgreen’s (cause all of the grocery stores were closed by this time) for brownie mix and fun things to put in them (hmmmm mint chocolaty goodness)

Thanksgiving day:
I didn't get lost on the way to aunt betty's house this year, YEAH!!!!!! My entire family was in town and in one house for thanksgiving this year (except for my brother and his wife) and it was amusing. All of my cousins and I haven't all been together in one place at the same time in years, it was really fun. Annnnnd my brownies were a hit, yessssss!

Day after:
I spent many hours on the phone switching around flight reservations for the cruise and dealing with money. (I got soooooooo lucky with this it isn't even funny) Then I spent the remainder of the day going through my personal finances and paying bills and such.... so much fun /sarcasm.

Saturday:
So the lindy 3 class I’m in is going to give a performance at our next monthly dance (egads what have I gotten myself into). We had practice last Saturday and it went really well, we're having a lot of fun with the routine and I think its turning out really well..... Now if I can just manage to not screw up the actual performance that would be great. Then right after that we had the Monday club dance till 11pm, it was really fun and I got to learn some more tango stuff. AND I convinced my friend ryan to Both learn to be a balboa lead and to take argentine tango classes with me YEAH!! Then after Monday club we hit Casa Loma to see the last hour of the bands there and all the people who skipped the Monday club (which was alot of people). OMG, I was already tired after the Monday club and at Casa they were palyign fast lindy..... my legs hated me at the end of the night but I was so glad that we went. Then we all went out to City Dinner and talked for a few more hours and I didn’t get home till like 4am.

Sunday:
I went to this funky arts and crafts showcase..... it was interesting stuff... Then we all went out to this jersey pizza place (cause liia wanted us all to have authentic jersey pizza) and it was really very good. Have no fear though, I will never abandon my Imo's STL style with bacon, hmmmmm... bacon Then we went back to jeff’s house and watched the italian job (good movie). I then proceeded to my parents house to do a crap ton of luandry before meeting Meri at Denny’s at 11:30 fro catch up time. I crawled back to the parents house around 2/3am and slept till 6am then got to work at like 7am.

And now for the work week:
Up and at work by 7:30am and not leaving till 6:30/7pm every night...... grrrrr. This wouldn't suck so much if I actually got PAID for overtime.
Oh well....
Liia's friend dennis is in town (cause he's moving to Portland) and he brought his adorable little dog with him... Max. He is the cutest puppy ever, will get a pic of him so you guys can see. He was so cute all night, and AND during the movie he slept on my lap *squeak* Ahhhh, he filled some much needed puppy time.

Ahhhh, Chicago was fun! We got a late start on Friday and so we got into town just in time for the late night dance… and basically from that point on it was on. The floor that night wasn’t the best but it was awesome meeting sooo many new people and to see a lot of people I already knew! I was pleasantly surprised at the tempo of music they played, from everything that I had heard I was afraid that it was going to be super fast lindy all the time, but it ended up being a nice mix of everything including blues.
Our host for the weekend was TommyD and he lived about 30min outside of town. (not too bad a drive but I’d like to be closer to the action next time) But he was an awesome host… he bought us carmel apples/doughnuts/chocolate/muffins/and strawberries for breakfast. And he has a projector screen for a TV, sweet!, which we spent Saturday watching movies on and hanging with our fellow crashers. (all awesome people by the way) Saturday night dance was made for me when about an hour in I got a dance with Adeoye and he led me in a move and apparently I did something unexpected and I got an AWEOSME form him. (my inner Emily was jumping for joy at this compliment) Little old only been dancing for 7months me got an awesome from one of the best dancers in chi-town *sigh* I danced with a lot of people that night, and I got in my first truly fast lindy dance, and damn it’s fast… I need to work on it a lot :D Had a TON of fun that night; I learned the universal philippino call, danced with almost everyone there, and basically relaxed and had fun! The late night that night was great as well… it was at a yacht club which turned out to be on a very large yacht. They had a faster paced room and a slower bluesy room… ahhh again sooooo much fun.
Sunday got off to a bit of a rocky start… I didn’t wake up till 2pm which was awesome (this is weird b/c I never sleep late/much at dance events) but bad because it meant that we missed going to our friend Drew’s performance *sadness* Then there was some minor drama that was averted/taken care of by an emergency retail therapy trip (an honestly where better to due some retail therapy than Chicago?) We hit Filene’s basement and H&M…. ahhhhh so much fun. I bought several things, one of which is a dress (yes a dress people) that I actually wore out dancing that night. Hopefully I will find a good picture of me in it as proof that I wore it out. We arrived at the Sunday night dance a little late and because liia wanted to get back by 3am we only had ~1hr there (it actually turned into almost 2hr there) So I quickly ran about like a chicken with my head cut off saying bye/dancing with as many people as I could find… which actually was a lot more fun than I’m making this sound *chuckles* Finally got to dance with Drew that night and got to have my final dance with Adeoye *sighs* Dancing in a dress is fun…. *twirls twirls* hehehe. Went to say bye to John and April who it was awesome to get to see again (though we didn’t have much time to hang with them) and did a mini steal dance off the dance floor to end the night. We then picked up our other passenger… did a quick change in the parking lot… and hit the road at 11:30pm… we arrived back at my parents house at 4am… got ~2hrs of sleep… and we all went to work the next day. Monday… OMG, longest day ever…

This was only my second “exchange” ever but it was a blast! I can’t wait for the next one!!

So future plans…
For future swing events please see my MySpace calendar…
In December hit Chicago again to visit april & john
Learn the tango
Throw a blues event at my house with 2wks of planning
Cut & dye my hair again

Plotting to take over the world... or maybe just a small part of St. Louis

Egads I haven't blogged in forever....  I keep doing all this fun stuff and wanting to write about it but then I'm tired or I procrastinate (and as you all know I’m the queen of procrastination) [/wining]

Soooo, last weekend I went to Tulsa, OK to a friends house party and for those of you who actually read this thing you'll know that this is the second house party that Chris has hosted and this was just as fun as the last.  The noobs he had recruited at the first house party have improved sooo much, I'm amazed.  There weren’t as many out of towners there as last time but that was ok...  we got more Chris time.  My fav class of the weekend had to be the tango blues class.... hmmmm, yummy.  I want my next dance addiction to be tango but you need a permenant lead/partner to really learn it.  So if anyone knows any guys who wanna learn tango send them my way *nods head*   Oh god and the biggest news of all is that in the last few hours of the trip (in just a random conversation with Chris) Liia, Jeff, and I have resurrected STLBX only not its STLuBX....  *scratches head* How did the out-of-towner, the noob, and rockabilly boy end up in charge of what used to be one of the largest blues exchanges in the country????  I'm still trying to figure out how I got myself into all this.  Well this year its going to be much smaller because we only have three weeks to plan it and its gonna be the weekend of Oct19-22... so come one come all registration will be up soon.  Oh well, the weekend ended fabulously because we had dinner at Raes place and her boy Austin cooked this AMAZING chicken for us and Sharon was there so YEAH FOR SHARON TIME! We basically sat around talking and watching Family Guy for a few hours, awesome!  Then came the drive back to town, 6/7hour drive so I didn't get home till about 4am...  Rock On!

This week has been one of the longest and tiredest(yes I know this isn't a word) of my life.  I've been coming in early and leaving late all week cause I’m in the middle of an experiment and I finally managed to catch up on sleep on wend say by sleeping through everything I was supposed to do that day... (both capoeira and swing practice) but I needed it.  So tonight I’m heading up to Chicago to dance at WCLX '06 and it’s gonna rock I know it.  The only way it will suck is if they don't do some blues at the last nights (5am is not the time for fast lindy *shakes head*)   But I promise to take lots of pictures and actually put them up in a timely manner (novel concept for me I know)

Went up to Chicago this last weekend again to party one last time with Mihai before he went back to CA.  Had a good time, good dances, and realized what it is that I need to do to become a better follow (now if I can actually get my body to do it that would be great!)  It was a great cuddle puddle weekend *sigh*  bliss... didn't really leave our friends appt, had GOOD food (thank you Joachim!!), and watched lot's of TV/movies... definitely have to do this again sometime.

SO much to say sooo little space *aghhhh*

So the last few weekends have been busy/fun/draining/trying, but sooo worth it.  My birthday weekend (7-9th) was a rousing success, it was supposed to be me and three other people going up to Chicago to lets lose and play  tourist but it ended up being only me and liia (damn school is interfering in peoples social lives again *tut tut*).  It was awesome though, we stayed at John and April’s appt for the weekend and they were great hosts.  They let us tag along with them and their friends to dinner and then clubbing, had lots of fun and my feet were killing me at the end of the night which means the night was a success.

Sat we played tourist, hit the pier, saw susical the musical (hilarious), and wondered about the city.  That night April took us up the Hancock tower to the bar and we had martini's and chocolate...  and April and Liia were sneaky they got the waiters to put a candle in my slice of cake and they even got me a card....  so nice of them *beaming smile* John and matt signed it too.  Then we went to matt's appt cause he has a great view of the city and navy pier and hung out for a bit... good night all around.
Then Sunday we decided that we must try the adventure that is Ikea and get some shopping done before leaving Chicago... (how could we go to Chicago and not shop)  John and April warned us that trying to find Ikea is and adventure in itself, and they were right.  So after we hit the mall (spent entirely too much money on sketchers, at H&M, and the Lego store) we went on the hunt to find Ikea.... even with directions we got lost, but then we found it and, ahhhhh....  I love Ikea!!  Bought this REALLY cool mirror and some artwork (finally!) ::claps hands excitedly::    I can't wait for one to be built here, its gonna be a 2 year wait... guess I’ll be visiting Chicago a lot ;D!!

Then this last weekend (14-16th) we had people come into town (Mihai and Joachim)cause India Arie and Kim Massie were playing at live on the levy (for free) so there was much blues dancing.  After the concert Charles had a house party and there were a lot of people there I had never seen before, which is really weird cause STL has a relatively small scene so I know almost everyone.  But the night was still great fun =D lots of dancing.  The next morning we had a mini blues lessons that Mihai and Joachim taught and it was awesome I learned SOOO much.  They answered a lot of questions I had had (stupid niggly little questions that only I would obsess over).  I really wish that some of our leads had made it to this because.... because.   After that we were all starving so we hit the loop for some Thai food and just hung out.  Mihai, Joachim, and Patrick are really great guys it was great to actually talk and interact with, not just dance.  Same goes for Jen and Liia, so nice to actually get to know these people instead of just seeing them at dances where actually where talking is hard to do.

Ahhh, and all is right with the world again...

So *hmm randomly hearing farm animals from my roomies room*

So the world is brighter because I finally had a hermit day (and there was much rejoicing, yeah!)...  Sunday my roommate finally left the appt and stayed at her parents house over night so I had he appt ALL TO MYSELF.  It was wonderful, I hit the bookstore and bought all my new books, veg'd on the couch, and sunned myself on a rock.  Basically I had no human contact for 24hrs and it was great.  Unfortunately I had to miss the alterna-4th of July party but guys seriously, I NEEDED this.  I was getting to be so bitchy for no reason, it sucked.  But all is better now.

On Monday I had a half day at work, made a shit-ton of DNA, then came back home to sleep. Then went to flo town and had dinner with friends that I haven't seen in awhile (excellent mexican food).  We then hit my parents house and set off some fireworks of our own.  We were  going to hit the hottub but then it started raining, and raining, and raining.  SO I came home and slept some more.

Tuesday (4th of july) I slept till 11 then went shopping with my mom for awhile.  Then I had Ted drew's with Kristy, Tim, Liia, Drew, and drew's gf, excellent because it was a really hot day.  Then we went to Kristy's & Tim's to play uno and rummy (funfunfun).  Then we went to watch fireworks but it rained (again) so we watched a movie at drew's house instead (so long and thanks for all the fish) ::silly grin:: Came home and slept some more.

Wednesday I went to work bright and early (8am) had to turn in my parking pass and prep for the med student we have coming to the lab.  Her name is sujata and she's very nice so far.  Today she just shadowed me because were waiting for our ERG machine to get fixed (again) so she really can't start on her project yet.  It went well, it was slightly creepy (not because of her) but because it's just creepy to me to have someone follow me round all day.  (can you tell I don't like to be the center of attention)  But it went well, got out early, came home and I've been online ever since.  And Jeff, wonderful person he, was able to find me some songs I've been searching for forever and IM them to me ::excited dancing::

Now I'm listening to music, watching my torrents, and trying to plan what to pack for the fun trip to Chicago planned this weekend

song running through my head all day:  its my birthday and I'll dance if I want to, dance if I want to...    well not till the 8th

So yeah for my first swing traveling experience...  it turned out great.  Met many new people who I adore already (you know who you are people) and improved my follow tech greatly.  And I’m very proud of myself, I danced with every lead no matter how good they were and how badly I thought I would be.  The drive down wasn't that bad... liia, jeff, and I were all wide awake and we stopped at the Russell Stover outlet store (mmmm, bulk chocolate cheap = heaven) and at the worlds largest McDonalds.    Then I danced all weekend and had fun, no details to protect the  innocent  I mean... yeah, what happens at la casa stays at la casa. *lol* And no I’m not talking about me unfortunately.  I was introduced to a new card game this weekend, Munchkin Fu, seriously funny guys.  Think DnD in card format without all the pesky die rolling, hilarious, I almost fell off the couch a few times *hehe*   On Sunday morning chris cooked us all breakfast, french toast with an orange glaze, eggs, sausage, and strawberries.  It was great, and hilarious because once again it was the guys doing all the cooking while the women laughed at their antics.  And at some point in time this weekend it was decided that we needed a girls night/weekend out so me, liia, maria, and rosanna are gonna head up to Chicago the weekend of the July 8th and kick it up ::excited jumping up and down::  The travel bug has sooo hit me, how do I know this.... because at 1:30am I’m looking at my bank account deciding what I can live without so that  I can afford to travel to more exchanges ::shakes head in shame:: I’m so addicted  :D

Oh and pictures from this weekend are finally up online...  I’ve decided to use shutterbug for all my swing pics...  I like how it’s set up, album wise, because I foresee lots of dance pictures ahead.  BUt don't worry i'm still gonna use buzznet for all my other pics.
